Making a will

Making a will can seem daunting and many of us keep putting it off to another time. I in 5 of us die without ever having made a will, which can cause stress, legal arguments and problems for loved ones left behind at a time when they have enough to cope with.

It is not difficult or expensive to make a will, most people are surprised at how easy it is, and what's more, it is one of the very few opportunities to give property or large amounts to your family, friends or make a gift to a favourite charity.

You have the opportunity to plan for dependants and plan measures that can help your family avoid inheritance tax.

We would encourage you to make a will with our expert team. Our head of department for wills, estate management and planning for the future is Allen Mark Irvine LLB, who has at least 25 years' experience in these matters.

Why should I make a will?

  • Its allows you complete control of what happens to your assets when you pass on, i.e. the people you wish to benefit will benefit. If you die without a will then your assets will be distributed according to the Law of Intestacy perhaps resulting in your loved ones not benefiting as you would wish
  • You can bequeath a legacy to your favourite charity
  • In your will you will appoint executors to make sure that your wishes are carried out, as defined in your will. These executors can be friends or family
  • Careful drafting of your will can ensure that your children’s welfare is looked after together with their financial needs
  • Make a will today as you never know what tomorrow may bring

The Falls & Hanna Ltd Solicitors promise:

  • You will not be treated as a number but a person
  • You will be charged a fair price
